"Madeleine" Shetland worsted

$12.00 On Sale

Named for the author of "A Wrinkle In Time" and so many other outstanding books, Madeleine L'Engle, we have Charlotte's cousin, Madeleine. In conjunction again with Liverpool Yarns, it's the same great 2-ply, 100% Shetland "grown and spun in Pennsylvania," but in a worsted-to-heavy worsted weight.

A limited number of single skeins are available, plus three special sets. Each set contains one skein of each color, plus one full skein of the Liverpool Shetland worsted base I used.

Colors from left to right: Sanguine, Wineglass, 12-Bar Blues, Osage Can You See?, and Fiddlehead.

Natural dye materials used may include (depending on the color) lac, madder, cochineal, logwood purple, weld, osage orange, quercitron, fustic, indigo, Saxon blue extract (indigo cooked with sulfuric acid), logwood grey, and chestnut. I mordant with alum and cream of tartar, and may also use chalk, ammonia, vinegar, or extremely small amounts of tin (only occasionally in red dyes).

Every effort is made to represent colors as accurately as possible. Click on the thumbnails for a larger view.
